Race Against Hate

With what seems to be an uptick in hate crimes countrywide, Team WPNT Ltd. came out to support racial justice.

Although an annual event, the Ricky Birdsong 10K Race Against Hate was especially timely coming on the heels of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy in Orlando.  A running quartet from Team WPNT Ltd.  took part in the race which raised money for racial justice programs administered by the YMCA. 

The race, now in its 17th  year was named in honor of Ricky Birdsong, the first African American basketball coach at Northwestern University.  He was gunned down 17 years ago in front of his home by a white supremacist as part of a hate crime killing spree.
